Havana, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's National Assembly of the People's Power (Parliament) approved the Law of the President and Vice President of the Republic, during the celebration of its 5th ordinary period of sessions in the 9th legislature.

Meeting virtually, legislators voted in favor of the implementation of the regulation, which details the powers and functions of both positions, taken over from the Constitution that came into force in April 2019.

The bill had been previously analyzed for two days by parliamentarians, who expressed doubts and suggested changes, which led to the modification of several of its articles.

The drafting committee also took into account the opinions of citizens, who participated via email and other enabled channels.

Among the issues that were detailed are the definition of the National Assembly as the competent body to establish the causes and procedures for the supervening and disabling declaration of the president.

In addition, the law now includes within the powers and functions of the president to previously know the accountability reports of the governors, and to assess and approve the annual guidelines on the priorities of the control actions, both of the Comptroller's Office and of the audit national system.

The new legislation establishes the president can appoint, arrange and operate an auxiliary structure for the Presidency of the Republic.
