Havana, December 1 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, Lianys Torres Rivera, and the Prime Minister of that country, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, ratified Monday the ties of brotherhood between the two nations. On December 2, both countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

On Twitter, the Cuban diplomat stated that during her meeting they discussed issues of bilateral ties in different fields.

In a recent interview with the Vietnamese news agency, the Cuban ambassador in Hanoi highlighted as a projection the strengthening of the economic-commercial links between both countries.

Vietnam is currently Cuba's second-largest trading partner in Asia and one of the top 20 worldwide.

In the Mariel Special Development Zone, an industrial area located in western Cuba, there are Vietnamese companies linked to the production of construction materials and basic necessities, as well as the first Vietnamese concessionaire in Cuban territory.

As part of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Collaboration, the two countries are developing projects in sectors such as agriculture, health and biotechnology, finance, construction, transportation, science, information technology, and communications.

Both countries established diplomatic ties on December 2, 1960, and for 60 years they have maintained economic, political, and cultural relations.
