Cuba and Red Cross Committee opened round of political talks

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (ACN) The Cuban foreign ministry and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) began today in Havana the 8th edition of the High-Level Political Dialogues.

According to a statement from the foreign ministry, the event will promote the exchange of views on the universalization of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and the successful outcome of its 1st Meeting of States Parties, operations in cyberspace and outer space.
It will also address issues related to international humanitarian law, among other matters of common interest.

The Cuban side is chaired by the director general of multilateral affairs and international law of the foreign ministry, Rodolfo Benitez Verson, and also includes officials from the ministries of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Public Health and the Interior.

Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross is represented by Valeria Gamboni, deputy regional head for the Americas, who heads the delegation, Marisela Silva Chau, head of the Regional Delegation for Panama and the Caribbean, as well as other regional representatives of the organization.
