Cuba and Nigeria Sign Memorandum of Cooperation in the Health Sector

The Cuban Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices Agency (Cecmed) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) of Nigeria have signed a memorandum of understanding in this West African country to promote greater development in the health sector.
Moji Adeyeye, Director General of NAFDAC, said that the signing came at a good time for both countries, as it strengthens the historical ties that unite them, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported on its website.
He also recognized the great capacity of Cuba in the biotechnological and pharmaceutical sectors, and of Nigeria in the development of immunology, and the possibility of expanding the areas of cooperation.
For her part, Miriam Morales Palmero, Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, on behalf of Cecmed, reiterated the willingness to deepen joint work in the scientific field of health.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest related to the registration of medicines.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Cuba and Nigeria.
