Havana, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) The development of the food industry in Cuba constitutes today one of the economic and social strategy's priorities in the face of the global crisis generated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
According to the document circulated by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, entitled 'Synthesis of the Social Strategy to Boost the Economy and Face the Global Crisis Caused by Covid-19,' the development of the food industry is of vital importance for Cuba.

Cuba is an agricultural country and needs to guarantee both the food of the people and the accumulation for development, it is an urgent demand aimed to revolutionize the forms of management and bolstering agribusiness, he highlighted.

To achieve so, it will be necessary to take advantage of existing technologies in joint ventures depending on the priorities of food production in the country, the text emphasized.

In conjunction with the Food Industry Research Institute, product formulations will be established to accomplish greater use of meat inputs, extending them to the industrial process. Likewise, the development of freshwater lobster culture will be promoted in each territory to ensure a new assortment for export. In this order, joint actions with the National Center for the Production of Laboratory Animals and the Joint Venture Project aimed at fattening eels will also be prioritized.
