Havana, April 1 (RHC)-- The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Miguel Díaz-Canel, announced his attendance this Friday at the assemblies of the political organization in the eastern provinces of Granma and Holguín.
"After the emotions experienced in Cienfuegos, today we will be with the militancy of Granma and Holguin in their Provincial Assemblies," tweeted the President.
He referred to his participation on Thursday in a governmental visit to the province of Cienfuegos, in the center-south of the island, in which the leadership of the country noted the progress and discussed the difficulties and challenges of that territory.
In Cuba, as part of the organizational life of the Communist Party, provincial assemblies are underway. Their focus is on reinforcing the party's work at its grassroots and with the population, focused on the confrontation and solution of the main problems affecting the country and each region in particular.
A common theme of these meetings is to analyze the level of implementation of the resolutions and guidelines derived from the eighth Congress of the PCC, held in April last year and in which Díaz-Canel was elected First Secretary of the organization.
Cuba is facing a complex situation marked by the effects of the world economic crisis aggravated by Covid-19, a pandemic from which the country has emerged victorious thanks to a large extent to the creation of its own vaccines against SARS-Cov-2.
The scenario is worsened by the persistent hostility of the United States through an economic, commercial, and financial blockade of more than half a century, reinforced in recent years with more than 240 measures, and under a fierce media campaign aimed at promoting a "soft coup" to overthrow the government.
