The Club Med 2 cruise ship is in Havana again, with tourists interested in getting to know in depth the beauties and people of this country, guides said on Tuesday.

For three days, the boat will be docked in the port of Havana, where its passengers will move around the city and other places of interest, led by the Gaviota Group travel agency.

Club Med 2 is a computer-controlled five-masted sailing schooner, operated by Club Med as a cruise ship.

It combines the power of seven computer-operated sails with more traditional diesel-electrical power, with four diesel generators powering two electrical motors. Club Med 2 was launched in 1992 in Le Havre, France.

Her sister ship, Club Med 1, was sold to Windstar Cruises and was renamed Wind Surf in 1998.

The ship, one of the world’s largest sailing cruise vessels, can carry up to 386 passengers with a crew of 214, navigates the waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic Sea in summer, and the Caribbean in winter, finding its way to destinations that larger cruise ships cannot reach.

This cruise offers ballroom dancing, bridge visits, music, and sails at night. A water sports platform can be deployed from the stern. Club Med 2’s European destinations include ports in the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Aegean Sea. Transatlantic sailings are offered in the spring (eastbound) and fall (westbound).

The vessel was based on Windstar Cruises’ smaller 5,350-ton sailing yachts Wind Wind, Wind Spirit and Wind Song. All were built by the Société Nouvelle des Ateliers and Chantiers du Havre, France.
