Beijing, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) The President of China, Xi Jinping, called on the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, to join forces between their countries so as to contribute to the development and world peace in times of change and instability.
During their official talks, the president emphasized to the visitor the need for both powers to take advantage of their great influence on this purpose, considering it the ‘right direction in the midst of a complex international scenario’.
According to a press release, Xi highlighted the development of diplomatic ties in their 50 years of establishment and the capacity of the two states to find common points to promote exchanges, mutual knowledge and beneficial cooperation.
China’s official note did not mention Scholz’s intervention, but according to the German press he referred to global challenges such as hunger, climate change and the debt of developing nations, in addition to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and its socio-economic impact.
Scholz’s trip is surrounded by a strong campaign, his detractors are pressuring him not to ‘bend’ to Beijing and see in the negotiation of the port of Hamburg an alleged threat to the security of commercial information and the possibility that China will use it to ‘encircle’ and ‘blackmail’ Europe, if it were to have a war with the United States.
The German ruler closes a week in which Vietnam’s Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also arrived in China.
