China allocated 100 million yuan (14 million dollars) in emergency aid to Myanmar after the 7,9 magnitude earthquake that shook the country with a death toll of more than a thousand people.
China International Development Cooperation Agency spokesman Li Ming reported that two rescue teams have been sent to the neighboring nation, along with urgent supplies such as tents, blankets, first aid kits, food and drinking water.
The first rescue team arrived in Yangon today and will quickly proceed to the affected areas.
The Red Cross Society of China also responded to the disaster and sent an initial batch of aid including 300 tents, two thousand blankets, 600 folding beds and relief packages for two thousand affected families.
These supplies were sent from the Yunnan Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Center.
In addition, an international Red Cross rescue team left for Myanmar equipped to provide humanitarian assistance.
According to official information, the organization will continue to monitor the needs of the affected people and evaluate possible additional support.
