Chilean political leaders demanded that the United States lift the blockade against Cuba during an rally on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Cuba’s National Rebelliousness Day.

Hundreds of people attended the political-cultural activity held at the Faculty of Art of the University of Chile.

Several legislators, friends of the Revolution, representatives of political and social organizations, the Society of Writers, graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine and the accredited diplomatic corps attended the evening.

“(The blockade imposed) by a powerful country on a smaller one represents a clear violation of human rights,” declared Senator Claudia Pascual, of the Chilean Communist Party, on behalf of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba.

The senator denounced that the blockade restricts Cuba’s access to financing, goods and services and creates obstacles to development; Cuba, however, created its own vaccines to combat Covid-19 during the pandemic.

According to the official, despite being subjected to this criminal policy, Cuba shares what it has, has trained doctors from several countries, provided aid to Chile when the 2010 earthquake, supported European nations such as Italy during the pandemic, and contributed to the liberation of peoples of Africa.

Actress and deputy Ana María Gazmuri, from the Humanist Action Party, sent greetings to Cuba on its memorable date and called for strengthening unity in the face of the dangers that loom in the world with the advance of the ultra-right.
