The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Cuba will commemorate for the second time a day against terrorism and will take advantage of the opportunity to demand an end to the United States blockade against Cuba, official sources confirmed on Saturday.

David Comissiong, Barbados’ ambassador to CARICOM, told Prensa Latina that the initiative will be this Sunday and will also have the aim of pressuring and denouncing “the hypocrisy of keeping the country most attacked by violent actions from US territory on the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.”

The Caribbean countries will pay special tribute to the 73 souls of the sabotage who on the morning of October 6, 1976, were victims of hatred not only against Cuba but against the entire region.

The solidarity event also recalled that in 2016, during the 8th Summit between the nations of CARICOM and Cuba, it was approved, at the proposal of Barbados, to designate that date as a day against terrorism.

Commissiong pointed out that this decision was a very important milestone, because until then only a few countries had held events commemorating the tragic action, and based on that resolution, all full and associate members of the bloc commemorate the anniversary.
