Canadian tourism companies have retaken the Cuban market with the resumption of flights from the North American country to international tourism destinations in the country's northern keys.
The expansion or renewal of flights to Cuba are bound to Varadero and Santa Maria Key, the island's ambassador in Ottawa, Josefina Vidal, said.
This Sunday, Air Canada, an airline and a tour operator, resumed operations to Santa Maria Key in the north-central part of the country.
According to Vidal, there are already three destinations of this important Canadian tour operator, who recalled that, besides Santa Maria, there are stable air connections with Cayo Coco and Varadero in the Hicacos peninsula.
Since last Saturday, the inaugural flight of Hola Sun Tour Operator with OWG airline to Abel Santamaría International Airport in Santa Clara marked the reactivation of foreign tourism in the center of the country.
Some 150 tourists from Canada arrived in that flight, mainly from Toronto and Montreal, to enjoy new proposals in compliance with the relevant health control measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in centers certified for a "more hygienic and safer tourism," according to the slogan of the local Ministry of Tourism.
The flights this Saturday and Sunday open the way for the flow of clients' weekly arrivals from the leading emitter of tourists to Cuba.
