The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) made the following announcement:

To all people of good will:

From the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), we call on all regions to join the Conference for Peace against the Blockade and Terrorism, to be held from September 4th to the day that the United Nations General Assembly votes on the draft resolution on the need to put an end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba.

At a time when the defense of peace becomes urgent, in the face of what seems to be a propitious scenario for a new world conflagration, this Conference is an opportunity to unite around the fundamental principles that govern our humanity: justice, equity, and mutual respect.

We are particularly motivated by pressing matters such as the unquestionable need that the genocide committed by the Zionist state of Israel against the brotherly people of Palestine, with the complicity of its Western partners, come to an immediate end.

No less imperative is the need that the U.S. blockade of Cuba, which for more than six decades has caused incalculable suffering to our people, and which continues to asphyxiate our possibilities of development and limit our free exercise of human rights, be lifted at once.

This blockade is in itself an act of war and terror. However, with its typical cynicism and its eagerness to break our people, the United States has unilaterally designated our country as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, adding an extra burden to the suffocating measures that prevent impede the normal life of our nation. We Cubans have personally experienced the pain caused by state terrorism driven by imperial hatred, so such designation is a vile lie designed to smear prestige that the Revolution has earned by demonstrating its commitment to peace and international cooperation.

Based on these three reasons, we appeal for solidarity and join efforts to raise awareness in physical and virtual spaces through rallies, discussion forums, cultural events, and as many other initiatives as we can promote. Every action counts, every voice is important. Together we can contribute to build a more just world, where respect for human rights and the dignity of all peoples prevails.

The struggle for peace is universal, and united we can make our voice heard for a future without blockade and terrorism.

For a Free Palestine!

For a Cuba without blockade!

For a future of peace and sovereignty!

Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP)
