The Federal Police of Brazil scheduled from simultaneous statements of lawyers linked to former president Jair Bolsonaro, to investigate the suspicion of obstruction to justice in the trial for attempted coup d'etat.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court, determined last week that the Federal Police began, within five days, the interrogation of jurists Fabio Wajngarten and Paulo Cunha.
Both must respond for the alleged obstruction to investigations on the tentative coup that tried to hinder the arrival of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva after winning the 2022 elections.
The decision was made after the presentation of documents for the defense of the complainant Mauro Cid, former assistant of Bolsonaro, on which targets attempts to interfere in the confessions and contact their relatives.
De Moraes also determined that the Federal Police include in the investigation the records of the extraction and categorization of Data from the cell phone of the teenage daughter of Cid, who, according to the accusations, was contacted by Wajngarten and Cunha with the aim of influencing their statements.
The documents presented to the Police also indicate that Eduardo Kuntz, lawyer of another suspect, Marcelo Camara, presumably sent messages by WhatsApp to Cid’s daughter, suggesting that he convinced his father to erase compromising conversations, in addition to trying to arrange a meeting “in a safe and comfortable place”.
According to the informant, Kuntz possibly contacted Agnes, Cid’s mother, in social events in order to persuade her to change the legal representation of her son; While Wajngarten, who left the defense of Bolsonaro in July 2023, also tried to contact the relatives of the former advisor, including his wife and teenage daughter, in a series of attempts considered intense.
