Brazilian President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will attend the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP27), which will take place in Egypt, the Workers' Party (PT) confirmed on Friday.

CNN Brazil reported that PT President Gleisi Hoffmann told the television channel that Lula would attend the event on November 14 and will hold bilateral meetings about social and environmental inequalities and the fight against hunger.

This weekend, some PT members, including environmentalist and federal lawmaker Nilto Tatto, will arrive in Egypt as coordinators of the environmental program of the campaign by the former union leader. COP27 will be held in the Egyptian seaside resort of Sharm el-Sheikh from November 6 to 18 and will be the first international commitment of the Brazilian president-elect, who was invited by President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi.

The Brazilian delegation will also include Marina Silva, former Environment Minister and elected federal deputy, and Senator Simone Tebet.
