Biden reiterates his ‘ironclad’ commitment to Israel

US President Joe Biden yesterday reiterated his absolute support for Israel, which continues to commit a genocidal war in Gaza.

Biden made the remark in press statements at the beginning of his meeting with his Israeli counterpart Isaac Herzog at the White House.

“You know my commitment to Israel is ironclad and we share a deep friendship,” he said as he welcomed the Israeli president.

He added, “You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist.”

In response, the Israeli president said, “You’re clearly a Zionist, Mr. President,” expressing his pleasure at having friends like Biden, and his thanks for the American support for Israel.

“You have been an incredible friend of Israel and the Jewish people for decades, and we will never forget, ever in history, how you stood up with us in our darkest hour,” he added.

With American support, Israel has been committing a genocide in Gaza since October 2023, leaving more than 146,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 are believed to be missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and elderly people, and caused one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
