Brussels, Dec 10 (Prensa Latina) Belgian organizations and Cuban residents in this European country will hold on Thursday a demonstration of solidarity with the Caribbean island to reject the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

The Carrefour de l'Europe, a pedestrianised square in this capital where the Brussels Central Station is located, is the scene of the mobilization, framed on Human Rights Day.

Cubanismo.be association president and one of the organizers, Isabelle Vanbrabant, told Prensa Latina that the US blockade violates the human rights of the Cuban people and is an attack on their development.

Among the participants in the new mobilization against the blockade there will be the organizations Cubanismo.be, Los Amigos de Cuba in Belgium, Intal, the Latin American Solidarity Coordinating Committee and the Association of Cuban Residents in Belgium (CubaBel).

For her part, Cuban dancer and choreographer Menia Martinez agreed during an interview with Prensa Latina on the importance to establish a position on the side of the Revolution and the people of the Caribbean nation, who resist the aggressions.

Martinez, who also serves as CubaBel president, stated that in a global context marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, highlighting the successes of the island and its health system have been important, despite the severe impact of the US siege, a policy in force for 60 years, tightened by the Donald Trump administration.
