Minsk, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko on Tuesday ruled out that the possible western measures will affect the performance of the country's military-industrial complex.

The president told Belta news agency that they do not have solid contacts with the United States or the European Union (EU) and that the relations with which they are cooperating in terms of weapon development are good.

He drew attention on his government's pressing need to guarantee the provision of modern weapons to the army and other military institutions, taking into account the circumstances they are in, which have never been easy.

After the Aug.9 election in Belarus, won again by Lukashenko, there were protests in the country for several months, which were supported by a series of unilateral measures implemented by the West against Minsk.

In recent days, the EU called on the member states of the bloc to close the common airspace to Belarusian aircrafts, as well as to avoid European flights over its airspace.

These measures were linked to the landing of the Ryanair airplane in the Belarusian capital and the arrest of Roman Protasevich, one of the founders of the channel NEXTA Telegram, known as extremist in the country and wanted by the authorities.
