Luanda, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) Angola received today more than 200 young health professionals trained in Cuba, with the expectation of putting their knowledge at the service of the people.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the president of the Union of Students of Higher Education of Angola (Ueesa), Victorino Sanguvira, explained that 186 completed the degree in General Medicine, while the others studied specialties such as clinical analysis, stomatology, optics and optometry, rehabilitation, nutrition and health information system.

According to the Ueesa representative, this is a benefit for the country, whose government is committed to the continuous training of its cadres in order to improve the living conditions of the population.

The formation of human capital in the field of health, he said, is associated with investments in hospitals and other infrastructures of the public network; so “we expect better times for the nation”.

“Cuba is a good place to study”, answered Nelsa Gongo, one of the graduates of Medicine, with whom Prensa Latina spoke at the February 4 International Airport, in Luanda.

The professors are demanding in the theoretical and practical exams, “you have to make an effort…, but I am already here with my degree after six and a half years”, said Gongo, who dreams of returning to the island “if they give me the opportunity to specialize in endocrinology there”.
