Alleged Killer of Young Girl Captured in Granma, Cuba

The alleged killer of a nine-year-old girl in the town of Grito de Yara, located in the municipality of Río Cauto in Granma Province, has been apprehended by forces of the Ministry of the Interior, with assistance from the local community.

The victim, who had lost her mother, was under the care of her maternal grandparents. She was reportedly murdered in her home, allegedly by an acquaintance of the family who resides in the area.

According to the most recent edition of La Demajagua newspaper, citing information provided by the Ministry of the Interior in Granma Province, the incident occurred in late June.

The report adds that the individual arrested as the suspected perpetrator has a lengthy record of criminal and police offenses and will be prosecuted with the full severity permitted under Cuban law.

Article 344 of the Cuban Penal Code states that the murder of a minor, particularly under aggravated circumstances, is classified as an extremely serious crime. The penalties prescribed range from 20 to 30 years of imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty.
