Acosta Danza, company directed by first dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta, is not yet ten years old and is already going to stage its twentieth season in Cuba. They are certainly workhorses.

The dance group decided to name each season as a singular tradition and the one kicking off this Saturday in the Avellaneda hall at Cuba’s National Theater will be called Temporada 20 (Season 20). And it will be very short, in fact, just two staging.

The staging will present works by Cuban and foreign choreographers, as usual.

Mundo interpretativo, by Brazilian Juliano Nunes, with original score by Pepe Gavilondo and designs by virtual artist Glenda León; Soledad, by Spaniard Rafael Bonachela, music by Astor Piazzola, Agustin Lara and popular Latin American songs performed by Chavela Vargas.

The public will also enjoy Liberto, piece by Cuban Raúl Reinoso, music by Pepe Gavilondo, inspired by Cuban literary works. The closing staging will be Imponderable, by Spaniard artist Goyo Montero. This art piece is based on the lyrical universe of Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez.

The performances of Temporada 20 will begin at 19:30 hrs, on Saturday, June 17 and at 17:00 hrs on Sunday, June 18. Tickets are on sale at the theater box office.
