The minister of Housing and Habitat, Manuel Quevedo, stressed the first international operation of the Great Mission Barrio Nuevo Barrio Tricolor to support the Cuban people as they recuperate from the damage caused by Hurricane Matthew.

Quevedo stated that about 70 tons of materials have been sent to Cuba so far, specifically to alleviate the damage in home structures and electricity, which were affected by the hurricane.

The Venezuelan Navy ship Tango 63 arrived in the port of Santiago de Cuba on October 13 carrying humanitarian aid for the victims of the storm especially in Guantanamo province.

The first part of the cargo, consisting of 327 tons, was received by Cuban authorities who emphasized the sending on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro, and expressed the affection and brotherhood between the two nations.

Quevedo also praised that the Great Mission Barrio Nuevo Barrio Tricolor has so far invested millions in financial resources for the rehabilitation of facilities in communities of Venezuela.
