Cuba Making Progresses in Computerization Process

“Along with the direct support and commitment provided by the sectors of the Cuban economy, the nation makes progresses in relation to the specific programs which are dedicated to the society´s computerization.” Madga Brito, who is the director of computing science of the Ministry of Communications, said to the local Radio Rebelde newspaper.
Madga Brito highlighted that there is a determination shown by the Cuban State to advance in the development of the computerization which is a process that is part of the local economic, political, social and cultural process of the nation.
Madga Brito explained that the computerization of a society transcends due to its connection to internet and it is also attributed as the automation of the processes which must be all identified. Moreover, there is a related work that is being carried out to improve the technological infrastructure and the creation of capacities in all sectors with a special emphasis in those ones providing services to the population.
The Public health is one of the prioritized sectors and there are hospitals which have many related tests through a digital clinical record and the connection to the nation´s net of drugstores and blood banks; besides, there is a work carried out in the educational sector about the related connecting process of the schools.
The computerization in Cuba is in the middle of an improvement of a coherent process and each sector has a three or five-year period to apply a new technological program.
The bank sector is another of the sectors with important progresses. It has grown with more than 800 hundred cash dispensers and a figure that is higher to 3.1 millions of magnetic cards nationwide, besides, the phone and remote service was increased.
Magda Brito said that the access to internet is one of the services with a current higher acceptation by the population not only the cord one but also the cordless one and that is why the Wifi connection was installed in 109 municipalities through 200 areas and the rest of the nation´s territories have internet room centers.
“All these results have come to fruition through the nation´s determination about accepting the new technologies for the local population according to the local economic possibilities. The computing technologies and the connectivity are one of the nation´s strategic sectors.”Magda Brito concluded.
