Two American senators continue to launching attacks in order to stop flights from US to Cuba. These senators are Democrat Robert Menendez and Republican Marco Rubio.

Both have proposed a bill that aims at stopping commercial flights between Cuba and US until it can be tested the real ability of Cuba to meet stringent security measures.

Such proposal comes one week after Cuba and the US opened their first regular air traffic route since 1961. It certainly intends to delay the flights until the US Transport Security Administration assessed Cuban airports’ security measures.

Nonetheless, American Airlines’ vice-president of global marketing, Fernand Fernandez, confirmed that flights of his company will increase to more than 60 to Cuban cities such as Holguin, Santa Clara, Varadero, Camaguey, and finally Havana.

Such bipartisan initiatives will face a tough fight in the Congress where several bills to travel freely to Cuba have been subjected.
