Zimbabwe Population Appreciates Cuban Doctors Solidarity

Zimbabwe, African country where medical professionals are limited, people witness the solidarity of the Cuban people thanks to the cooperation of doctors from the island, reflected today Granma newspaper. In Bulawayo, the second largest city of Zimbabwe, spontaneous and various references on Cuba happen around any corner and have a lot to do with that 11 Cuban health collaborators present in the region, says the newspaper.

One of those examples is the one of the Zimbabwean Kervin Raymond, who in 2008 came to Cuba to study at the Medical University of Pinar del Rio with a bunch of expectations, and now tries to take to his consultation everything he learned in the Island, added the newspaper.

The doctor works at the united hospital of Bulawayo, and although the health system in his country is very different from that of Cuba, there are experiences of his learning process in the Carribean country that penetrated deep, such as putting the patients at the public health facility and work according to their needs, says the Havana daily newspaper.

About the Cubans, the professional added that he admires free health and fos all, humility, absence of unnecessary protocols and false hierarchies between doctors and patients, the mobilizing capacity to assist other countries, and especially the eternal defense of fair causes.

To Kervin, Cuba is his second homeland, where he learned the principles of solidarity, joined the student movement and took the precepts of internationalism.
