Nikolic decorates Fidel Castro

Nikolic said on the occasion that this act is a dream come true for him. At a press conference held in Havana on Wednesday, the last day of his official visit to Cuba, the Serbian president said it was a great pleasure to meet Fidel Castro, Cuba's Prensa Latina news agency reported.

While in Cuba, the president received the Order of Jose Marti, the medal of the highest state honor in the Republic of Cuba. The decoration was presented to him by President Raul Castro, with whom he had a meeting.

Nikolic is the first Serbian President to visit the island since the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia.

The two countries' diplomatic relations have never been interrupted since they were first established on August 30, 1943.
