Helms-Burton Summarizes US Domination, Cuban MP Says
especiales

The Helms-Burton Act currently sums up the essence of U.S. domination over Cuba, said Rolando Gonzalez, Vice President of the International Relations Committee of the Cuban Parliament.
For the Cuban MPs, the regulations approved by the U.S. Congress in 1996 constitute the main violation of the Cuban people's right to development and self-determination.
This legislation seeks to change the regime in Cuba and deprive the country of the tools that make its development possible, Gonzalez said during a working meeting on Friday with other lawmakers at the headquarters of the National Assembly.
At the meeting, the International Relations Committee stated that the corresponding nationalizations and compensations were made in accordance with Cuba's sovereign right and foreign regulations.
'Cuba is ours, no one can claim any rights over our lands, schools, universities, hospitals, homes, production centers and scientists', said the President of the Commission, Yolanda Ferrer.
U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, announced on April 17, that as of this May 2, the continuous suspensions of Title III of said legislation would end.
The legislation highlights the extraterritorial nature of the economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba.
