Cuba's President Highlights Russia's Recognition to Raul Castro
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted Thursday the recognition given by Russia to the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, for his contribution to the construction of socialism.
'After the massive workers' march in the ' Jose Marti ' Revolution Square, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raul Castro Ruz, was honored with the Lenin Award. Well deserved for his contribution to socialism', Diaz-Canel wrote on Twitter.
The recognition was granted by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation for his exceptional contribution to the construction of socialism.
It was also awarded for his work to strengthen the principles of justice, humanism and social progress.
Raul Castro pointed out that I do not receive this prize in a personal capacity, but in the name of all our people, of the communist militants of the island, and in recognition of the leadership of our organization.
The Lenin Prize is a sample of the historical relations between Cuba and the Russian Federation, which persists in different scenarios and which are currently being reinforced and renewed, said the former Cuban President.
We will never forget the gratitude that Cuban revolutionaries owe to the Soviet Union, and especially to the heroic Russian people for the decisive support and permanent solidarity in the difficult first years of the Revolution, he emphasized.
