Diaz-Canel Highlights Professionalism of Cuban Health Center

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted on Friday the professionalism of the workers of the State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed).

During a visit to Cecmed, the Cuban president affirmed that the institution, which celebrated its 30th anniversary on April 21, is one of the best in the island's health system.

The centre is responsible for the promotion and protection of health in Cuba and has a regulatory system capable of guaranteeing timely access to essential products, with quality, safety, efficiency and truthful information for rational use.

In addition, it establishes an effective and transparent system of regulation, supervision and health surveillance, while at the same time performing the functions of drug registration, diagnostics, medical equipment and devices, clinical trials; post-marketing surveillance; and others.
