Miguel Diaz-Canel, member of the Politburo and First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, met on Thursday afternoon with Cesar Octavio Camacho, president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) of Mexico, who is on the island heading a delegation of that political organization at the invitation of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC). The meeting took place in a fraternal atmosphere, an occasion in which Diaz-Canel explained the development of the implementation of the agreements approved in the 6th Congress of the PCC and the First National Conference of the PCC. The visitor offered an assessment on the process of structural reforms his government is currently implementing, as well as about the need to strengthen regional integration mechanisms, particularly the CELAC. They also tackled other issues of interest in the Latin American arena, the Granma newspaper reported.
 
The two leaders declared themselves to be in favor of continuing to strengthen the bonds of friendship existing between the PRI and the PCC.
 
Participating in the meeting were, for Mexico, among others, Jose Encarnacion Alfaro, Organization Secretary, and Javier Vega Tamargo, Secretary of International Relations, and for Cuba, Jose Ramon Balaguer, member of the Secretariat and head of the department of International Relations and other officials of the PCC.
