After fruitful days exchainging experiences and knowing the area, the 11th edition of the International Event on Nature Tourism, TURNAT 2017, is concluding today in this eastern Cuban city.
Most participants agreed on the success of the meeting, which consisted of talks and programs of nature tours, adventures and rurality.
The event aims to promote nature tourism and to encourage tour operators and travel agents to bring people who want to take an active break in interesting sites throughtout Cuba.
The 11th TURNAT (Holguin-Baracoa, September 26-30, 2017) was an excellent opportunity for exchange between professionals engaged in this kind of travel, as well as an occasion to visit and examine trails and promote the beauties of the Cuban archipelago.
The leadership (main organizer) of the ECOTUR Travel Agency in promoting nature tourism, places Cuba as a well-targeted country in this regard.
TURNAT takes place every two years in a different place. The first meeting, TURNAT 2000, was held in Viñales, Pinar del Rio, Cuba's westernmost province.
The second meeting was held in 2002 in the central-southern province of Cienfuegos, because the 2001 event was canceled due to a hurricane threat.
The event took place in the eastern province of Granma in 2003, and central Sancti Spiritus in 2004. It was held again in Pinar del Rio in 2005, and in Baracoa, Cuba's easternmost region, in 2007.
The event was held every year until 2007, when the organizing committee decided to hold the meeting every two years: in the south-west Cienaga de Zapata (Zapata Swamp) in 2009, and in central Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus in 2011.
In 2013, the event was organized in the eastern province of Granma and it was held again in Pinar del Rio in 2015. This year's event was held in the country's eastern region.
On the closing day of the event, participants will visit the Yumuri Tourist Park and will take a safari tour through Maisi, in the easternmost tip of Cuba.
