Participating in an event in Salvador, Bahia, on the occasion of the PT's 46th anniversary, the Brazilian leader stated that the South American giant stands in solidarity with the Cuban people, who are victims of "a speculative massacre by the United States."

"We, as a party, must find a way to help. What can we do?" added the head of state.

In his address, Lula also emphasized that Venezuela's problems must be resolved by that country's people, and not by Washington or US President Donald Trump.

This statement comes after the attack ordered by Trump against Venezuela on January 3rd and the kidnapping of that nation's constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, who is currently a prisoner in the United States.

Lula also referred to his country's relationship with China, saying he is very grateful for the bilateral alliance, which he described as successful and respectful.

This comment was made while criticizing Washington's pressures on other nations not to sell rare earths, materials, and minerals to China. "It is a semi-hidden struggle, but everything is against China," he warned.

"Our country is sovereign. We want to work with everyone, but we do not want an owner, we do not want to be colonized again," the leader remarked at another point in his speech.

Lula's statements about Cuba at the PT event follow last week's issuance of a communiqué by that political force expressing its full support for the Caribbean nation in the face of actions by Trump, who signed an executive order to deprive the island of access to oil.

"Cuba has already suffered a criminal unilateral blockade for more than 65 years, preventing the country from developing freely and fully," the party recalled, adding that the Trump administration now intends to completely suffocate its economy.

"We advocate for the end of the blockade against Cuba and its full reintegration into world politics and the economy. We cannot accept another attack on the sovereignty of a Latin American country nor this criminal threat against its people," emphasized the PT's National Executive in that document.

According to the Brazilian party, it will continue to defend the Cuban people, their right to self-determination and sovereignty, and the Revolution and its ideals of social justice.
