Three people were killed in an attack by United States forces on a vessel involved in drug trafficking operations in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, the U.S. military reported on Sunday.

This attack—one of dozens of similar actions in recent months—raises the death toll of the U.S. campaign to at least 185, according to a tally by AFP.

As in previous cases, the U.S. military's Southern Command stated on X that the targeted vessel was operated by organizations designated as terrorists and that intelligence services confirmed it was traveling through known drug trafficking routes.

The administration of Donald Trump has not presented conclusive evidence that the vessels targeted since September are involved in drug trafficking, which has sparked a debate over the legality of these operations.

Legal experts and human rights organizations contend that the attacks could constitute extrajudicial executions, as they have apparently targeted civilians who do not pose an immediate threat to the United States.
