Russia Expresses Solidarity at UN with the Brave Cuban People

Rusia expresa solidaridad en ONU con el valiente pueblo cubano
The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, expressed today at the international organization’s headquarters his country’s unwavering solidarity with the indomitable people of Cuba.
Speaking this Tuesday during debates on the need to end the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the United States against the Caribbean nation, Nebenzia noted that a far more powerful state is restricting the access of an entire population to medicines, food, and fuel.
The representative of the Eurasian giant also pointed out that many states have been subjected to pressure from the United States in an effort to alter the position of the international community.
Nebenzia highlighted that the blockade has escalated to unprecedented levels in just a few months, with fuel restrictions being added to the intensified economic, commercial, and financial punishment in an attempt to break the Cuban people.
Vessels are even being pursued in neutral waters to prevent fuel from reaching the Caribbean nation, the Russian diplomat stated, adding that the United States seems oblivious to the humanitarian crisis into which it has plunged Cuba.
Punishing a nation for making a sovereign choice regarding its future is a condemnable act, and despite all these unprecedented pressures, Cuba will remain committed to defending its sovereignty and independence, the Russian representative noted.
Russia, along with the overwhelming majority of nations, rejects Washington’s measures against Havana, demanding an end to the inhumane blockade designed to punish its population, as well as the removal of the Caribbean nation from the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism, Nebenzia concluded.
