Hundreds of people gathered today in Paris to denounce and condemn the escalation of United States aggression against Cuba, which includes an oil blockade—a policy they labeled as imperialist.

In the central Place Vauban, with the Hôtel des Invalides as a witness, participants carried Cuban flags and identifying signs of the organizations present, along with banners demanding an end to Washington's hostility toward the Caribbean island and respect for its sovereignty.

The French Communist Party (PCF) called for the mobilization as part of the weekend street actions planned in solidarity with Cuba, which yesterday saw gatherings in various cities, including Bordeaux and Toulouse.

Associations with decades of solidarity work with the largest of the Antilles attended the Paris event, such as Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop), Cuba Si France, France Cuba, and Cuba Linda, as well as the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), one of the country's main unions, and political organizations.

Also present were Cuban residents who are members of a Coordinating Group, along with representatives from the Communist and Citizen Group of the Paris City Council and the Vitry-sur-Seine City Council.

The gathering rejected recent measures adopted by U.S. President Donald Trump to tighten the economic, commercial, and financial blockade applied for over 60 years—a crusade that particularly seeks to suffocate the island through an oil blockade.

On January 29, Trump decreed that Cuba poses an "unusual and extraordinary" threat to U.S. national security and warned of imposing tariffs on countries that supply or sell hydrocarbons to the island, accentuating the extraterritorial nature of the blockade.

Cuba's ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, thanked the solidarity with the Caribbean nation and the broad participation in the event.

During his speech, the diplomat denounced the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Cuba and detailed their impact on the civilian population.

Vaillant defended his country's right to peace, self-determination, and development without interference or external pressures.
