In a statement issued today, the solidarity coalition Defensem Cuba told Prensa Latina that participants read a public manifesto in which they condemned "the criminal economic and financial blockade, intensified by the energy strangulation imposed by the Trump administration."

The manifesto also denounced a serious incident that occurred on February 25 in Cuban territorial waters, in which a speedboat registered in Florida, United States, opened fire on personnel from the Border Guard Troops of Cuba's Ministry of the Interior.

Chants and songs expressing ideological conviction and unconditional support for the Cuban Revolution gave the event a spirited atmosphere.

Defensem Cuba organized the gathering under the slogan "Aturem l'agressió. El bloqueig mata" — Stop the Aggression. The Blockade Kills — held in front of the Cuban Consulate on Paseo de Gracia.

Simultaneously, the organization launched a donation drive under its Campanya Urgent initiative, described as an urgent campaign against the blockade under the banner Energy for Cuba.

The group also released a declaration repudiating Washington's economic siege of the largest island in the Caribbean and rejecting the energy blockade imposed by the United States. The document states that political, social, labor, and solidarity organizations across Catalonia, united in defense of the sovereignty of peoples and of international law, are issuing a formal call to denounce the White House's hostile policy toward Cuba.

The declaration specifically recalls that the international community has repeatedly and overwhelmingly spoken out against this policy, as evidenced by the most recent vote in October 2025 before the United Nations General Assembly.

For the 33rd time, the U.N. approved a resolution demanding an end to the blockade, this time with 165 votes in favor — representing the near-unanimous support of countries around the world.

Defensem Cuba also highlighted that on January 29, President Donald Trump signed an executive order declaring a "national emergency" to justify the imposition of tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba.
