The Elefantes de Cienfuegos secured a 10-7 victory over the Piratas de Isla de la Juventud—marking their eighth consecutive win—and took advantage of a setback by the Huracanes de Mayabeque to consolidate their position in the playoff qualification zone during the seventh subseries of the regular season in the 65th National Baseball Series (SNB).

Playing at home at the 5 de Septiembre Stadium in the Pearl of the South, the central team took control in the third inning following an RBI hit by lead-off hitter Erick Acevedo, who finished with three hits and six RBIs on the day.

Furthermore, Cienfuegos added four-run rallies in both the fourth and sixth innings, supported by an effective relief performance from Yeisson Fernández (3.0 IP), who only stumbled in the ninth when he allowed two runs before earning his first save of the season.

Other results in the western zone included a dominant win by the league-leading Vegueros de Pinar del Río (11-1 KO) over the Huracanes de Mayabeque, with Jenier Álvarez earning his league-leading fifth win and Lester Benítez hitting his seventh home run. The Cocodrilos de Matanzas defeated the Cazadores de Artemisa 13-3 with a grand slam from José Pren and a victory for pitcher Yamichel Pérez, while the Leones de Industriales picked up a win against the Azucareros de Villa Clara.

In the western standings, Pinar del Río holds top spot with a 21-6 record, followed by Matanzas (17-8), Industriales (15-10), and Cienfuegos (15-12). Mayabeque (13-13), Villa Clara (10-14), Artemisa (9-17), and Isla de la Juventud (3-22) trail behind and need to accelerate their pace to reach the qualification threshold.

In the eastern zone, the division-leading Leñadores de Las Tunas reasserted control at Julio A. Mella Stadium, defeating the struggling Indios de Guantánamo 10-3.

Yusnieski Larduet, Yosvani Alarcón, Henry Quintero, and Yudier Rondón drove in two runs each for the squad managed by Abeysi Pantoja, contributing to a balanced offense that produced 14 hits, including two doubles. Anier Pérez pitched seven innings without allowing an earned run to record the win.

Elsewhere in the east, the Cachorros de Holguín and Avispas de Santiago de Cuba repeated victories over the Tigres de Ciego de Ávila (4-1) and Toros de Camagüey (7-5), respectively, featuring home runs from Ernesto E. Torres and Francisco "Paqui" Martínez.

Finally, at José Antonio Huelga Stadium in Sancti Spíritus, the Alazanes de Granma defeated the Gallos de Sancti Spíritus 13-7, led by cleanup hitter Darian Palma, who went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored, and three RBIs.

Following these games, Las Tunas leads the eastern zone with a 19-8 record, followed by Santiago de Cuba and Holguín (16-10), Granma (14-13), Sancti Spíritus and Ciego de Ávila (13-14), Camagüey (10-17), and Guantánamo (6-21).

Friday will serve as a rest day, with action resuming Saturday featuring the same matchups at the same venues.
