The CNN network revealed, in New York this Thursday, that many Americans are forced to work sick.

He added that many, with precarious and low-paid jobs in the service sector, cannot rest even if they get the virus.

Others cannot get or buy the tests to detect it and don’t get paid by a sick leave.

CNN pointed out that in the United States there are no laws that protect such paid absences as in some industrialized countries.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, women are less likely than men to have that option.

For example, an assistant manager at a Pandora jewelry store in Orlando, Florida, was exposed to an infected person and was absent without pay because she didn’t have a license.

That employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: "It was a very, very tough week for me."

A Pandora spokesman said the company offers just 40 paid sick hours a year.

Bill Thompson, a cook at a Burger King in Independence, Missouri, doesn't have that kind of license either.

"I feel like I'm playing Russian roulette with my life by going to make burgers and fries for $11.15 an hour."

Here are some of the virtues of the so much publicized American way of life.
