On Wednesday, the U.K. government proposed the delay of flights as a precautionary measure after it received information from their intelligence body that an explosive device may be behind the Russian plane crash.

EasyJet, Thomson Airways, Thomas Cook and British Airways cancelled on Wednesday their flights to Sharm el Sheikh, which is a favorite resort for British tourists.

The U.K. government's emergency committee, known as COBRA, will hold a meeting on Thursday, according to official sources, to discuss ways to get the Britons back home from Sharm el Sheikh and assess the intelligence information.

This meeting comes ahead of the scheduled meeting between U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron and Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, who arrived in the U.K. on Wednesday on a three-day official visit.

The U.K. government sent experts on Wednesday to Sharm el Sheikh to assess security measures in the Egyptian city's airport and assist with getting Britons back to their country.

The MetroJet Airbus A-321 crashed last Saturday around 30 minutes after taking off, killing all 224 people on board.
