The World Health Organization (WHO) is coordinating with China the necessary requirements to approve the marketing of any of the vaccines against Covid-19 that are being developed here, local media reported on Wednesday.
According to CGTN, the WHO headquarters and its representative in China are in touch with Beijing and are exchanging information and the international requirements to approve the vaccines.
The process is taking place as China is testing eight vaccine candidates on humans, at different stages, to protect them from Covid-19, which is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
Four candidates are in the final stages and two of them, of the inactivated type, are expected to hit the market in December at less than 1,000 yuan/RMB (144 dollars) per dose.
Meanwhile, the Ad5-nCoV recombinant vaccine is the only one that has been patented so far and might be marketed soon at 100 yuan/RMB (14.63 dollars) per dose.
In July, China approved the urgent use of some vaccines, which have been administered to foreign-service officials, soldiers in United Nations peace-keeping missions and public servants from the health and aviation sectors.
