The vice president of Bolivia, David Choquehuanca, heads the delegation that participates in the inauguration of the G77 + China Summit at the Convention Palace in Havana.
The Bolivian Foreign Minister, Rogelio Mayta, and other senior government officials are also attending the Summit according to the Cuban ambassador to Bolivia, Danilo Sánchez.

Choquehuanca and his companions were received on Thursday by the Minister of Higher Education of Cuba, Walter Baluja, at the José Martí international airport.

Leaders from several countries and functionaries from international organizations have already arrived in Cuba so as to participate in the summit, whose theme will be “Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation.”

The G77 has 134 member states, which represent 80 percent of the world’s population and more than two-thirds of the membership of the United Nations, and is considered the largest and most diverse consultation group in the multilateral sphere.

Cuba, for the first time, assumed last January, the pro tempore presidency of the bloc.

This year, Havana hosted events related to the G77 + China, including meetings of ministers of Education, Culture and Tourism of its member states.

The Summit will take place on September 15th and 16th.
