Havana, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) The National Council of the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists(Uneac) will discuss on July 8, the issues related to creation in different cultural scenarios.

From its Twitter account, the institution alluded to the meeting of more than 100 intellectuals from Cuba, after a two-year interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The president of Uneac, Luis Morlote, recalled the ninth Uneac Congress focused on the defense of the idea “Without culture there is no possible freedom” and dedicated to the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

According to the radio and television producer, the participants at the meeting will review the agreements and proposals of the conclave, held in the month of June 2019; they will also analyze the fulfillment of those ideas and commitments and the main challenges and current concerns.

This highest governing organization will examine the functioning of Uneac and will address the contribution and incidence of writers and artists in social scenarios such as teaching, community cultural work, artistic training and the fight against racial discrimination.

Gender equality, the role of the media and the link between heritage and identity and tourism will be other topics to be discussed during the meetings, which will also be dedicated to the memory and legacy of the National Poet, journalist and political activist Nicolas Guillen.
