The showers and electrical storms associated to this system spread over the northwest of the Caribbean Sea, the Yucatan channel and western Cuba.
Persistent rainfall over Pinar del Río, Artemisa and Isla de la Juventud continues, which should continue and increase in the rest of the western region over the next few hours.
The report specified that locally intense accumulations were reported at the Isabel Rubio weather station with 92.2 millimeters in 12 hours and at Unión de Reyes, Matanzas province with 87 millimeters in less than six hours.
In the next 12-24 hours, it will continue to move slowly, gain a little more organization and intensity, and could become a tropical storm.
The wide circulation of the system will maintain rainy areas over a large part of the western region, which can become strong and intense in some locations.
Special attention should be paid to rainfall, due to its persistence and intensity, particularly in the provinces of Pinar del Río, Artemisa and in Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality.
Due to the position and future trajectory of this tropical depression, the Forecast Center of the Cuban Institute of Meteorology keeps a close watch on the evolution of this cyclonic organism.
