Tunis, May 26 (Prensa Latina) On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), a selection of Cuban films will be screened in Tunis from May 27 to 30, a diplomatic source reported.

According to the program, the films “Contigo pan y cebolla”, “Inocencia”, “Habanastation”, “Ciudad en rojo”, and the documentary “Che, amor, politica y rebelion” will be displayed.

The City of Culture will host the exhibition, a venue that was inaugurated in 2018 and that houses cultural areas and institutions of national relevance such as the Tunisian Contemporary Dance Ballet, the National Center of Dramatic Art, the National Center of Cinema and Image and the Tunisian Cinematheque.

The tribute to Cuba’s leading film institution is entitled Salut les cubaines! (Hello Cubans!), and also includes an exhibition of twelve photos of Havana, entitled “La ciudad como Imagen” (The City as an Image), which was curated by writer and essayist Rafael Acosta de Arriba.

Cuban Ambassador Mariem Martinez thanked the director of the Tunisian Cinematheque, Tarek Ben Chaabane, for organizing the event as a gesture to foster cultural exchange between the two nations.

Martinez noted that it is a way of bringing peoples closer to the knowledge and enjoyment of the best of their cultures and traditions, according to a press release from the Cuban Embassy here.

Salut les cubaines! is organized by the Cinematheque of Tunisia, with the collaboration of the ICAIC and the Cuban Embassy in Beirut.
