Superior League deemed important for Cuban basketball
HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 3 (ACN) Cuban men's basketball team head coach Eduardo Moya stressed in this city the importance of the country’s Superior League for the development of several talented young players and announced that this tournament should begin in April, after a two-year shutdown imposed by COVID-19.
He mentioned some good basketball prospects who might make it to Team Cuba in a not so distant future, including Daniel Babastro, Ibrahim Echavarría, Andy Castellanos and Raúl Concepción, among other potential candidates in need of playing to improve their game.
“With these athletes and those who are now playing for foreign clubs, we can put together a much more competitive team,” Moya pointed out, “but then again, they need to keep playing basketball, and the Superior League will be a good opportunity for them to show all the good things they can do on the court.”
