Statement by the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association

The Jamaica Cuba Friendship Association joins with the majority of humanity's citizen in the strongest condemnation of the illegal, cruel and inhumane 60 year old commercial, economic and financial blockade of our sister country by the government of the United States of America and call for its unconditional removal.

We equally register our extreme disgust at the current Biden administration total embrace of disgraced former president Donald Trump's designation of Cuba as a Sponsor of State Terrorism which is not only utterly malicious but inaccurate and carries with it dire consequences for the Cuban people's access to food, medicine, fuel, spare parts, to name a few of the regular supplies that are necessary for regular day to day human existence. Taken together, these 2 cruel and inhumane actions are the greatest stumbling blocks to Cuba's development, as they prevent potential and necessary businesses from doing business with Cuba for fear of angering the US empire and incurring unilateral coercive measures aka sanctions. Its this fear, that is at the heart of the daily shortage of goods including fuel that is experience of our courageous Cuban brothers and sisters.

We therefore call on all people of good will and conscience to raise their voices from whatever fora that present itself against this brutal and 'ungodly practice by this self- confessed christian president Biden- and to demand from him that he lives up to his pre-election promise of continuing the work of former president Obama in improving relations with the Cuban people and government.

We shall overcome.
