Salaries will increase in the Cuban Elite Baseball League

Athletes and coaches will earn a higher salary in the upcoming Cuban Elite Baseball League, the treasurer of the Cuban Baseball Federation, Luis Daniel del Risco, announced on Tuesday.
 
In a press conference in the Adolfo Luque Hall of the Latin American Stadium in Havana, Del Risco, who is also responsible for the umpires of the National Commission, assured that the baseball players will earn 5,000 Cuban pesos above their salary, 3,000 for the directors and 2,000 for the coaches.

In the next National Series, differentiated payments are expected to be made depending on the athletes’ individual performance, in addition to what they have received for several seasons for meeting certain parameters during the championship and for individual leadership.

The president of the Cuban Federation, Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, commented on the preparations for the selective tournament that will begin on March 15, officially presented the game schedule and clarified doubts from the journalists who will cover the event.

Pérez Pardo took the opportunity to inform that the champion of this tournament will attend the next edition of the Series of the Americas in Panama and the Caribbean Series in Venezuela, if the invitation is confirmed.

League Director Carlos Martín said that from March 3 to 6, preparatory courses for directors, coaches, provincial commissioners, technical commissioners and sabermetricians will be held in Havana, followed by the technical congress the day after they are finished.

The Cuban Elite Baseball League will involved the six best-placed teams in the last National Series, reinforced with ten players from the teams that did not qualify.

The teams from Las Tunas, Pinar del Río, Granma, Industriales, Ciego de Avila and Santiago de Cuba will compete for the crown of this third edition.
