Russian scientists to visit Cuba

Russia’s Federal Service for Supervision of Protection and Well-being of the Consumer (Rospotrebnadzor) informed that several of its specialists will visit Cuba to receive an update on tropical diseases.

On Monday, Rospotrebnadzor told the TASS news agency that the Russian and the Cuban experts will conduct a series of studies on diseases in the Caribbean.

The Russian specialists will visit Havana between August 5th and 8th in the context of the Russian-Cuban guarantee of the population’s health and epidemiological welfare.

Cuban and Russian experts will conduct a series of studies on relevant infections such as Oropuche fever, said the agency, which specified that hi-tech testing systems developed by the Federal Service will be used in the research.

The mission is expected to contribute to the humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, and to global efforts to combat infections with epidemic potential.
