Moscow, April 6 (RHC)-- The director of the Latin America department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexandr Schetinin, stressed his country's interest in deepening strategic cooperation with Cuba.
"We will strengthen the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership on the world stage, promoting trade and economic cooperation, providing humanitarian assistance, and strengthening people-to-people contacts," he told Sputnik news agency.
The Foreign Ministry official stressed that Moscow prioritizes the transport, energy, metallurgy, agriculture, and tourism sectors in its relations with Havana.
He recalled that cooperation between the two countries has "a long history," based on "partnership and mutual support." They have relations of true friends and strategic partners, he said.
Regarding the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the Caribbean island, Schetinin denounced that such measures are an example of Washington's "hypocrisy and duplicity of foreign policy" , which tries to build the world "according to its models."
Interviewed in recent days by the Prensa Latina news agency and the Telesur channel, he mentioned that a group of countries intend to build the world according to their own rules and turn international affairs into a hostage of their internal political considerations and interests.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the actions of the West reflect the impossibility of convincing anyone that its policy is fair and that it is not isolated before the international community.
