Russia creates electronic warfare system against satellites

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that it has developed an electronic warfare system capable of suppressing signals from spacecraft in geostationary orbit.

As the Ministry told the Sputnik news agency this Saturday, Russian military industry companies produced the aforementioned system, which can disable satellites in geostationary orbit with its signal.

The statement specified that it can reach targets that are at an altitude of up to 36 thousand kilometers from the earth’s surface, although it did not reveal other details.

It also noted that “the power of its short-range emitters allows not only to suppress, but also to irrevocably disable the enemy’s electronics.”
